Q: What is a SkinZ?
A: A “SkinZ” is what we call our product. The SweetskinZ core product is a rubber membrane made of synthetic and natural rubber compound and printed with a unique process using special inks. SkinZ are applied during manufacturing to various items also made of rubber to add colors, graphics and reflectivity.

Q: Can I apply the SkinZ myself?
A: SweetskinZ SkinZ is a specialty rubber component applied during the manufacturing process. It cannot be added to a finished product. If you are a rubber products manufacturer, you can probably apply SkinZ yourself.

Q: What are the SkinZ made of?
A: SkinZ are made of synthetic and natural rubber compound and printed with a unique process using special inks.

Q: How thick is a SkinZ?
A: The thickness varies depending on the application. Usually SkinZ thickness ranges from a little less to a little more than 1mm but can be made thicker if needed.

Q: How big can you make them?
A: The current limit is about 70cm x 200cm. If your application requires larger, please contact us. The technology is not the limiting factor.

Q: Can SkinZ be applied to any rubber product?
A: We prefer to say “almost” any. Let us know what you have in mind; we most likely have a solution.

Q:  Will the rubber and/or reflectivity rub or wear off? If so, how long will it last?
A: If a SkinZ product is used in a high friction application, such as a tire – they will wear where they touch the road, just like a regular tire without SkinZ will wear. The inks and reflectivity also wear in similar situations. Designs in low friction areas, like tire sidewalls; stay vibrant for a very long time. How long each design lasts depends on the use and situation. Our engineers are continually looking for ways to make colors and reflective last longer in high wear applications.

Q: Can you change the rubber compound formula?
A: We use formulas custom mixed to each application.

Q: What is the durometer of your rubber?
A: The durometer varies depending on the application and specification. Sweetskinz brand bicycle tires measure 57A.

Q: What is your minimum order?
A: The short answer is - there is no minimum. The longer answer is that the smaller the order the higher the “each” price is. Contact us, we will be happy to give you a quotation specific to your need.

Q: What special equipment is needed if we add SkinZ to our manufacturing process? Are any modifications required to our machines?
A: Each process is different. In our experience no special equipment is needed. Some SkinZ Application Partners have added carriers to certain machines to make it easier for operators to apply the SkinZ. Our engineers will work with you to assess your process.

Q: Can you use designs we provide?
A: Yes our graphics team will work with you to produce final artwork.

Q: Can you print logos?
A: If you have permission to use it, we can probably print it.

Q: How many colors of ink can you print?
A: The number of inks is unlimited but more inks raises the cost and more complicated designs are also more expensive to print.
